What is teeth correction?
Teeth correction — technically orthodontics — refers to deliberately straightening teeth and correcting malocclusions. The goal is a harmonious row of teeth and a functional bite. The correction is not only a question of aesthetics, but also of dental health.
Why correct teeth? Not only aesthetics
Straight teeth not only look nicer — they are also easier to clean. This reduces the risk of caries and gum inflammation. A balanced bite distributes the chewing forces evenly and relieves the teeth and the jaw joint.
Which misalignments can be corrected?
Teeth correction covers the most common tooth and jaw misalignments. The most important include:
- Crowding / crooked teeth — too little space in the jaw (read more)
- Overbite — upper incisors protrude too far (read more)
- Deep bite — upper teeth cover the lower ones too much (read more)
- Crossbite — upper and lower jaw meet offset (read more)
- Open bite — a gap remains when biting down (read more)
The modern method: clear aligners
While the fixed brace with brackets and wires was the standard for a long time, today many misalignments can be corrected with clear aligners — virtually invisible, removable and comfortable in everyday life. Which method suits you depends on your starting situation. More on our aligner page.
The process of a teeth correction

Duration & costs
The aligner treatment costs from CHF 4,500 for one jaw or from CHF 6,500 for both; early treatment in children from CHF 3,900. How the price is made up is explained in the article what aligner treatment really costs.
Teeth correction for children, adolescents and adults
Teeth correction is possible at any age. In children, early treatment can deliberately guide jaw growth (see orthodontics for children); in adolescents and adults, aligners bring the teeth discreetly into shape. Teeth can basically be moved throughout life.
