Orthodontic treatment is only complete with retention. It stabilises the newly reached tooth position and prevents the teeth from moving back.

Types of retention
Fixed or removable.
Which variant — or combination — fits best depends on your situation. We discuss this individually.
Removable retainers
Clear retainer trays that stabilise the result — flexible and easy to handle. CHF 350.– for 3 trays per jaw.
Fixed wire retainers
A thin wire on the inside of the front teeth — permanent and invisible. Either a classic metal retainer or a modern, metal-free non-metal retainer. CHF 550.– per jaw.

The retention phase follows active orthodontic treatment. With retainers and regular check-ups, the newly reached tooth position is stabilised long term.
After treatment, teeth tend to move back towards their original position. Consistent retention prevents this relapse.
A fixed retainer (a thin wire on the inside of the front teeth) and removable, clear trays that are usually worn at night. Often both are combined.
The wearing time is individual. In the initial phase consistent wearing is especially important; afterwards we adjust the approach. We discuss your personal plan.
