Teeth grinding (bruxism)
Nocturnal or stress-related grinding and clenching — the teeth wear down, the muscle tenses up.
Teeth grinding, jaw pain or tension headaches? An overloaded chewing muscle is often behind it. We assess the cause and treat in steps — from protecting the teeth to targeted muscle relief.
The masseter is the strongest muscle in the face. If it is permanently overactive — for example through nocturnal grinding or stress — this transfers to the teeth, jaw joint and head.

Pain in the jaw joint from overload, often with clicking or restricted mouth opening.
Chronic muscle tension in the jaw area that can radiate into temples, neck and head.
Important: every therapy starts with a thorough examination. Only once the cause is clear do we discuss which measure makes sense for you.
From assessment through the gentlest effective measure to the follow-up check.
We record your symptoms and examine jaw joint, musculature and bite position (approx. 15 min).
If needed we narrow down the cause specifically — only from this does the right therapy follow.
As a rule, therapy starts with a bite splint, supplemented by physiotherapy and stress management.
We review the effect and adjust the therapy. Only if symptoms persist do we discuss further options.
We always start with the gentlest effective measure. Which steps make sense follows from the examination.
Examination of jaw joint, musculature and bite position to narrow down the cause of the symptoms.
Protects the teeth from wear and relieves musculature and jaw joint. In most cases the first measure.
Physiotherapy, stress management and if needed low-level laser therapy to support muscle relaxation.
If symptoms persist despite splint therapy, physiotherapy and stress management, targeted relaxation of the chewing muscle with botulinum toxin may be considered in individual cases. This medicine is not officially approved for use on the chewing muscle (off-label use) and is strictly prescription-only. It is only considered after detailed consultation and only once approved therapies have not worked sufficiently. We do not offer any application for purely cosmetic purposes.
With a medical indication, some supplementary insurers cover part of the cost for splint therapy and functional analysis. We are happy to provide a cost estimate.
