Why isn't brushing alone enough?
No matter how thoroughly you brush at home — the toothbrush simply cannot reach some spots: the interdental spaces, the area at the gum line, the back surfaces. Plaque collects there and over time turns into hard tartar. No brush removes that any more — only professional teeth cleaning does.
How a professional cleaning works
- Check & findingsFirst a look at teeth and gums — where are there deposits, inflammation or sensitive areas?
- Removing deposits & tartarGentle removal of plaque and tartar, including in the gaps and at the gum line.
- PolishingThe teeth are polished smooth — so new deposits adhere less and discolouration disappears.
- Fluoridation & tipsFinally a protective fluoride varnish and individual tips for care at home.
How often does a cleaning make sense?
As a rule of thumb once or twice a year — exactly how often depends on your oral health. Those prone to tartar, bleeding gums or discolouration benefit from shorter intervals. We recommend the rhythm individually.
Regular prophylaxis prevents caries and gum inflammation up to periodontitis — and often saves more elaborate, more expensive treatments.
