Which types of braces are there?
There are essentially two ways to straighten teeth: the fixed brace with brackets and wires, and the clear aligner tray, which is removable. Both move the teeth into the desired position in a controlled way — but comfort and visibility differ considerably.
The modern brace: clear aligners
For many patients, aligners are now the preferred option — effectively the invisible brace. Instead of bonded brackets you wear individually made, transparent trays that you simply remove to eat and brush. The people around you usually don't even notice the correction.
Fixed brace vs. aligners
Brackets and wires, bonded in place · clearly visible · not removable · more elaborate cleaning · usually longer to wear
Transparent trays · virtually invisible · removable · easy to clean · often 2–10 months
How does the treatment work?
It starts with a preliminary examination and a digital 3D scan. From this we plan the individual tooth movements with AI support and show you a preview of the result. You wear the trays around 20–22 hours a day; every 4–6 weeks we check the progress. After completion, a retainer secures the result.
What do braces in Zurich cost?
The costs depend on the effort and scope — minor corrections are less expensive than comprehensive bite corrections. As a guide for an aligner treatment as a modern brace:

Does insurance pay?
For adults, braces are generally not covered by basic insurance; supplementary insurance plans sometimes contribute a partial amount. For children and adolescents, a contribution to the costs may be possible depending on medical necessity. We clarify this with you individually.
