What it’s about — briefly explained
If you are unhappy with the colour or shape of your teeth, there are two well-established options: professional whitening or veneers. Both lead to a brighter, more harmonious smile — in completely different ways. Which solution is right depends not only on the desired result but also on your individual situation.
Whitening — the quick brightening
Professional whitening dissolves discolouration out of the enamel. The result: brighter teeth in their own shape, with no loss of substance. We carry out the treatment in a controlled way at the practice — with power whitening that delivers a visible result in a single session. Whitening is the right choice when the tooth shape is good and it is “only” about brightening.
Veneers — the lasting solution
Veneers are wafer-thin ceramic shells placed on the front of the teeth. They change not only the colour but also the shape, position and proportion — and thus solve problems that whitening alone cannot address: gaps, minor misalignments, chipped edges or permanently discoloured teeth. They are individually planned and made in the laboratory.
Veneers don’t “only” change the colour. They give us the chance to compose a smile completely — so that it suits the person’s face.
Whitening vs. veneers compared
At a glance
Brightens existing teeth. Shape stays the same. One session at the practice (power whitening). Lasts 1–3 years, depending on lifestyle. Non-invasive.
Changes colour, shape & proportion. Two to three appointments, individually planned. Lasts 10–20 years with good care.
What we look at during the consultation
- Your individual situation — tooth position, shape, substance, pre-existing conditions
- Your desired result — how should your smile look?
- Lifestyle & care — coffee, wine and smoking influence whitening results
- Budget & timeframe — from a single session to a multi-stage treatment
- Long-term perspective — what suits you, not just in the short term
Costs & health insurance
Cosmetic treatments are generally not covered by basic insurance — they are considered not medically necessary. Some supplementary insurance plans cover partial amounts. With us you receive a written cost estimate before every treatment; on request, instalment payment of up to 24 months is possible.
Our conclusion
Both options are excellent — the right choice depends on what you want to change. If it’s only about the shade: whitening. If shape, position and colour are to be harmonised at the same time: veneers. In any case, a personal consultation is worthwhile.
