Why does a dental practice offer red light?
Many people sit tensely in the treatment chair — that is completely normal. It matters to us that you leave the practice more relaxed than you arrived. Red light therapy is the perfect tool for this: ten minutes of warm red light on your face, eyes closed, breathing deeply. No extra appointment, no effort — the application fits seamlessly into your visit.
During or after your treatment — you choose
- During your dental cleaning: if you wish, the red light runs in parallel with your dental hygiene — relaxation without any extra time
- After your cleaning: ten minutes to wind down before you head back into your day
- After surgical procedures: gently come to rest — for example after a wisdom tooth removal or implant placement
- Simply as a time-out: ten minutes of warmth and calm that round off your visit pleasantly
Photobiomodulation: light has a tradition in dentistry
Light as a supporting tool is nothing new for us: in pain therapy we have long worked with low-level laser therapy — the “big brother” of red light therapy with the same principle, photobiomodulation. Dentistry is also researching whether red and near-infrared light can support tissue regeneration after procedures. We deliberately see the LED mask red light therapy as a well-being application — a relaxing addition, not a medical therapy.
In 2026, red light therapy is our gift in combination with a treatment. Just mention it at your appointment — we will schedule the ten minutes. All details on the red light therapy page.
What does it feel like? Best to experience it yourself — at your next appointment at our practice at Löwenplatz in Zurich. You can read about what is behind the application in our article Red light therapy: effects and process.
