What are aligners?

Aligners are clear, removable teeth trays made individually for your set of teeth. They move the teeth into the desired position in small, controlled steps — entirely without brackets and wires. Because they are virtually invisible, the people around you usually don't even notice the treatment.

Who are aligners suitable for?

Aligners are an option for simple as well as complex misalignments — from slightly shifted front teeth to more comprehensive bite corrections. They are suitable for all age groups: adolescents and adults alike. Whether aligners are the right approach in your case is something we clarify in a short preliminary examination.

How the aligner treatment works

  • Consultation & 3D scanWe examine your starting situation and create a digital 3D scan — without unpleasant impression material.
  • AI-supported planningBased on the scan we plan the tooth movements and show you a digital preview of your future result.
  • Wearing the traysYou wear the aligners 20–22 hours a day and switch to the next tray as scheduled. You take them out to eat and to clean your teeth.
  • Check-up appointmentsEvery 4–6 weeks we check the progress at the practice and adjust if needed.
  • RetainerAfter completion, a retainer secures the result so the teeth stay in their new position.

The advantages at a glance

  • Invisible — clear trays instead of conspicuous brackets
  • Removable — eating, brushing and special occasions stay uncomplicated
  • Gentle — soft, controlled forces without wires
  • Hygienic — easy to clean because removable
  • Faster — often 2–10 months instead of 2–4 years with a fixed brace

What does an aligner treatment in Zurich cost?

The price depends on your starting situation — how complex the correction is and whether one or both jaws are treated. As a guide:

Both jawsfrom CHF 6,500

Does health insurance cover the costs?

For adults, orthodontic correction is generally considered not medically necessary — basic insurance usually does not cover it. Some supplementary insurance plans contribute a partial amount. For children and adolescents, treatment may be covered in full or in part under certain medical conditions. We assess your situation individually.
