A crown protects a heavily damaged tooth and restores its shape and stability. We explain the path to it.

When does a tooth need a crown?

A crown is used when a tooth is so heavily damaged that a filling is no longer enough — for example after large caries, a fracture or a root canal treatment. It encloses the tooth like a protective cap and restores its shape, strength and function.

Which material?

We rely on all-ceramic: it is metal-free, very well tolerated and adapts naturally in colour — especially in the visible area, a good ceramic crown is hardly noticeable. The ceramic is also strong and durable.

How your crown is made

  • PreparationThe tooth is carefully prepared and shaped so the crown fits exactly.
  • Impression / scanA precise impression or digital scan is the basis for the exact fabrication.
  • TemporaryUntil the final crown is ready, a temporary protects the tooth.
  • PlacementThe finished ceramic crown is checked, adjusted and permanently fixed.
Crown or filling?

For smaller defects a filling is often enough (from CHF 300). A crown is worthwhile when too little healthy tooth substance remains for a stable filling. What makes sense in your case, we clarify honestly.
